has been run by Brenda Satterley and her team of volunteers in Allerton, Bradford, West Yorkshire for over 40 years.
The Rescue Centre caters for more than 130 cats, many of which are in Foster Homes.
The Cost of Care
Our annual expenditure amounts to around £20,000 with Vet bills costing the centre about £1,000 every month; food £100 each week; cat litter around £80 a month; extra refuse bins and Yellow Pages advertising cost arround £500 annually.
Other costs include heating the rescue centre and upkeep of their cat ambulance, both funded by Brenda.
Brenda and her team of supporters fundraise through tombolas and bric-a-brac stalls to raise money for the refuge. Sadly for this area, Yorkshire ranks number two in England and Wales for animal cruelty convictions, and Cat Rescue have certainly seen their share of this.
Fees for adopting cats are modest, but contribute to the running expenses and to make sure that the new owners take their obligations seriously. Every cat in the rescue is neutered.
We rely on donations to keep us going.
Some cats never leave. Few people, even in a nation of animal lovers, want to give a home to a maimed, mangy or crippled cat.
Fortunately, we do at .......................
Bradford Cat Rescue!
